Petronas Towers Tickets: Skybridge, Observation Deck and the KL Tower Alternative

4 min read

The two Petronas Twin Towers with the Skybridge between them, seen from street level against a blue sky

The short answer

A Petronas Twin Towers ticket gets you onto the Skybridge between the two towers and up to the Level 86 Observation Deck. Two listings sell exactly that: the Petronas Twin Towers E-Ticket at €41.81 (4.6 stars from 1,560 reviews) and the Sky Xperience Entry Ticket at €12.86 (4.7 stars from 292 reviews). Both booking pages list entry to the Skybridge and the Observation Deck. Neither is refundable.

What the visit looks like

According to the booking pages, the Skybridge sits on Levels 41 and 42 and the Observation Deck on Level 86. The Sky Xperience page puts the visit at about 1.5 to 2 hours: roughly 15 to 20 minutes on the Skybridge and 45 minutes to an hour at the Observation Deck, plus interactive exhibits about how the towers were built. It also asks you to arrive at least 15 minutes before your entry time, says late arrivals will not be accommodated, and does not allow re-entry.

Both pages ban baby strollers, which matters for families; the e-ticket page also lists large bags, luggage, selfie sticks and tripods as not allowed. The Sky Xperience page sets adult tickets for ages 13 and over and says children under 13 must come with an adult, and that tourists may be asked to show a passport or ID.

Two tickets, two sets of rules

The two listings are not identical. The e-ticket says entry times are fixed and cannot be changed after purchase, while the Sky Xperience ticket is valid for the selected date and the page also says “valid only for the selected date and time”, so confirm which applies to you before you pay. The opening hours differ too: the e-ticket page gives Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, last admission 8:30 pm, and says Monday is closed except on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. The Sky Xperience page gives Tuesday to Sunday until 9:30 pm and says the towers close on the first and third Monday. If you plan a Monday visit, check your date on the booking page before anything else.

The alternative: Menara Kuala Lumpur

The Kuala Lumpur Tower Admission Ticket costs €18.38 (4.3 stars from 1,296 reviews). Its page lists an enclosed Observation Deck about 276 metres up and an open-air Sky Terrace around 300 metres up. A Glass Box sells only at the Sky Terrace, and if you book the Sky Terrace option the terrace closes when it rains while the deck stays open. The page lists free cancellation up to 24 hours before, which the Petronas tickets do not offer.

The practical difference: the Petronas Towers are what you see in the skyline, and you cannot see them from inside. The KL Tower’s page names the Petronas Twin Towers among the sights from its deck.

Which one to choose

For the Skybridge, the choice is the Petronas ticket, and the two listings differ mainly in their terms, so read both pages for your date. If you would rather keep your booking flexible, or want the towers in your photo, the KL Tower fits better. You can also do both, one by day and one after dark.
